ETC Program Assistance
How does the City support area Employee Transportation Coordinators (ETCs)?
The City’s Transportation Program Specialist and Cascades West Rideshare staff are available to help area ETCs in gaining an understanding of the available TO programs and assist the ETC in their efforts to implement a program within their organization or business.
ETC Meetings –The City coordinates quarterly lunch time ETC meetings to:
- Facilitate both presentations and informal discussions on ways to encourage employees to use Transportation Options
- Promote an exchange of information between the ETCs on what promotional and motivational activities are or are not working effectively at their worksites
- Present information on upcoming special events and promotions and report the results and lessons learned from past events
Transportation Fairs – The City assists ETCs in scheduling, setting up and staffing Transportation Fairs at their worksites. A Transportation Fair consists of a table top display with photos, brochures, safety and promotional giveaways that help educate employees on their Transportation Options. The City will help staff the table to answer questions employees may have. These events typically last one to four hours and are often held in conjunction with another worksite related special event such as a Health Fair, Casual Friday or a bagel break to entice participation.
Transportation Related materials – We can provide ETCs with many types of brochures and flyers that can be used to promote commute options at their worksites on topics such things as bicycle and pedestrian safety and laws, the costs of commuting by various commute modes, Corvallis Transit maps and City/County Bike maps. We also have safety-related items such as reflective pant leg straps, flashlights, and bicycle tail lights that enable employees to feel more comfortable using an alternative way to commute.
Special Events – The City and Cascades West Rideshare sponsor two annual commute options events for the employees of ETC represented agencies. “Get There Week” is in May and “Choose Your Way” is in the fall. We provide participating ETCs with print and electronic posters, flyers and daily or weekly emails for distribution to employees that promote the events. Valuable prizes such as bicycling gear, gift cards to area restaurants, coffee shops and stores can be won by employees that register and participate in these events.
Get There – Get There is a free, personalized, secure, online ride-matching program that will connect you with other commuters who live and work where you do for carpooling, vanpooling or biking to work.
