9th Street Pedestrian Crossing Project
The 9th Street Pedestrian Crossing Project is planned in the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and will construct an enhanced pedestrian crossing on 9th Street, including flashing beacons, somewhere within the corridor between Buchanan Avenue and Grant Avenue (area shown in the map on this page). This project is identified as a High Priority (Project P3) in the City's Transportation System Plan and this supports the City’s Strategic Operational Plan that prioritizes improving the safety and walkability of the pedestrian system.
Before design can begin, selecting a location for the new crossing must occur. The City is asking for community input on the crossing location. To help with this, City staff have identified several potential locations for the crossing. A map of these locations can be found here. Staff have also developed a matrix showing how each location performs against several important considerations. The matrix is available here.
You are invited to provide input by taking the online questionnaire linked below. Before providing feedback, please review the map and matrix linked above.

Questionnaire will close Tuesday, December 3 at 5 p.m.

Fall 2024: Community Questionnaire and Crossing Location Selection
Following the questionnaire, City staff will consider feedback when selecting the crossing location that will move forward into design. After the location is known, the design and construction schedule can be developed and shared.
