March 11, 2025 - The City of Corvallis and Benton County invite the public to a joint open house on Thursday, April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave. for a new initiative aimed at enhancing road safety for everyone who walks, bikes, rolls, uses transit, or drives in the community.

The open house will provide an opportunity for community members to learn about the development of the Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP), a data-driven effort to identify crash locations, understand their causes, and develop community-driven safety solutions. The TSAP is funded by a $664,000 federal grant through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. By aligning with the SS4A program, Corvallis will be eligible for future funding to implement identified improvements.

What to Expect at the Open House

  • Learn about the SS4A Project and speak with City and County staff.
  • Explore crash data and high-risk areas in Corvallis and Benton County to understand where safety improvements are needed most.
  • Share your safety concerns and ideas for improvement at interactive feedback stations.
  • Light refreshments, Spanish interpretation, and family-friendly activities will be provided.

This event is free and open to all ages. For those unable to attend, feedback can be submitted through the Safety Comment Map on the City website. This online tool allows community members to flag unsafe locations and suggest improvements across Corvallis and Benton County. Community input will be integrated with crash data to guide the development of the safety plan.
