Alternative Travel Modes and Parking Options
Most parking spaces in Corvallis are for single occupancy vehicles (SOV). There are other modes of travel available to Corvallis residents with alternative parking options that could lighten the burden of creating more automobile parking and lessen the impact of your carbon footprint.
Bicycling
Corvallis is one of the best cities in the nation for bicycling. The small size of the city, combined with its excellent bicycle system and relatively flat terrain, allows almost any trip to be accomplished by bicycle in less than 15 minutes. Locked and secured bicycle parking is available by the month at the Downtown Transit Center and OSU campus on 26th Street. Carpool/Vanpool
Cascades West provides carpool and vanpool matching services for commuters living or working in Oregon's Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Counties; with connections to major cities such as Corvallis, Albany, Eugene, Salem, and Portland. Parking locations vary, with many commuters using the FREE parking on 1st Street north of the Harrison Street bridge. More information is available at Corvallis Alternative Modes of Transportation.
Electric Car
Oregon and 5 other states have been selected for what is known as "The EV Project" funded by a U.S. Department of Energy grant. The EV Project will place more than 2,000 charging stations in the Portland metro area, Salem, Eugene and Corvallis by 2013. Park & Ride
The only 'official' Park & Ride location is at Crescent Valley High School. There are 4 dedicated spaces. Corvallis Transit System (CTS) provides commuter service from the Crescent Valley area to the Downtown Transit Center September - June. There is also FREE parking on 1st Street north of the Harrison Street bridge.
Transit
Corvallis Transit System (CTS) provides public transportation to most Corvallis locations. The Downtown Transit Center is located at corner of 5th Street and Monroe Avenue. The Philomath Connection, Linn-Benton Loop, and Benton County's 99 Express connect Corvallis to Albany and other communities in Benton County. Go to corvallistransit.com for more information.
