Serious Injury Crash on SW Philomath Blvd Leads to DUII Arrest
On December 9, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Corvallis Police officers responded to a four-vehicle crash with injuries near SW Philomath Boulevard and SW 35th Street.
During their investigation, officers determined that 24-year-old Kala Baldwin of Philomath was driving a red Ford Mustang westbound when she failed to stop for traffic halted at a red light at SW 35th Street. Baldwin's vehicle collided with a stopped Volvo, which was pushed into a stopped Jeep SUV, which subsequently struck a stopped Mazda pickup.
The driver of the Volvo, 54-year-old Corvallis resident Roy Frank, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Officers determined that Baldwin was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail. Baldwin faces the following charges:
- Assault in the Third Degree (ORS 163.165)
- Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (ORS 813.010)
- Reckless Driving (ORS 811.140)
- Reckless Endangering (ORS 163.195)
