Community Livability Unit (CLU)
In August of 2015 the Corvallis Police Department implemented the Community Livability Unit which was developed to address chronic criminal behaviors which negatively impact the community and to improve livability. Since then, the team has grown from three officers to a total of six, which has increased its ability to effectively address criminal conduct throughout the community.
The Community Livability Unit is under the Professional Standards and Support Division and managed by Captain Joel Goodwin.
The CLU focuses on addressing neighborhood and community concerns which have a negative impact on livability. These uniformed patrol officers work in collaboration with other units within the police department, community groups, and Oregon State University to provide a safe and secure environment for all community members.
The unit is responsible for establishing relationships within the community, providing crime prevention, education, and enforcement functions. The unit undertakes these responsibilities by partnering with community groups to accomplish a variety of programs and projects. In addition, the team conducts directed foot and bicycle patrols while taking a proactive approach to enforcement.
The CLU is available to make formal presentations to community groups. To find out more about scheduling a presentation, please use the Community Outreach with CPD form to submit yout request.
