MAN ARRESTED DURING BURGLARY IN PROGRESS
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at approximately 3:30 AM, Corvallis Police Department Officers were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress in the 1400 block of SE Crystal Lake Drive. The resident of the home called 9-1-1 after she heard someone attempting to gain entry at her front door and saw a motion detecting light come on in her backyard.
Arriving officers located an open door on the attached garage and called for assistance from K-9 Mazikeen to clear the residence. Suldan Abdi, a 37-year-old male Corvallis resident, was taken into custody without incident after commands from officers.
After taking Abdi into custody, officers cleared the rest of the property and home. No additional suspects were found on the property. Abdi was lodged at the Benton County Jail on the following charges:
Burglary I (ORS 164.255)
Criminal Mischief I (ORS 164.365)
The Corvallis Police Department wishes to commend the resident for her vigilance and awareness, and for calling 9-1-1 as soon as she suspected someone was attempting to gain entry into her home. Making sure all exterior doors and windows are locked at night and installing motion detecting lights can help deter and detect crime in progress.
