Lt. Ryan Eaton Graduates from FBI National Academy
September 15, 2022 - Corvallis Police Chief Nick Hurley announced that Lieutenant Ryan Eaton has graduated as a member of the 283rd session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on September 13, 2022.
Lt. Eaton follows numerous command staff from Corvallis Police Department’s history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than 1 percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 283rd session consistent of two hundred and thirty-five law enforcement officers from forty-nine states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from twenty-one countries, five military organizations, and five federal and civilian agencies.
"The FBI National Academy is some of the most rigorous and intense training available to Law Enforcement Executives, as it prepares us to lead and handle the multitude of challenges that we face," Chief Hurley said. "Lt. Eaton was selected to attend based on his proven performance as a leader not only within Corvallis Police Department, but the State of Oregon. We are confident that the investment of time and energy he spent learning these past 10 weeks will benefit not only the Department, but the Corvallis community.”
Lieutenant Eaton graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. In October 2005 he was hired as a Police Officer with the Corvallis Police Department and spent the next 9 years as an officer, a police training officer and a detective in our Street Crimes Unit. In September 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and then to his current position as lieutenant in July of 2017.

About the FBI National Academy
FBI Academy instructors, special agents, and other staff with advanced degrees provide the training; many instructors are recognized internationally in their fields. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered. A total of 53,671 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
