Corvallis Police Investigate Assault with Hatchet

On September 19th, 2019, at approximately 7:18pm, Corvallis Police Department Officers responded to Pioneer Park (1300 SW Philomath Blvd) for a report of an assault at an illegal campsite adjacent to the park.  Officers contacted the victim, a 34 year old male from Corvallis, who had a head injury.  Upon investigating the incident, officers learned the victim was reportedly struck in the head with a hatchet by another male who is known to him.  The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital via ambulance for serious injuries.
