"Halloween should be scary, not deadly. Historically, Halloween Weekend is one of the busiest times in Corvallis for law enforcement. Here are some simple ways to keep yourself safe:
- Plan a sober ride home.
- Avoid all dark clothing. Be visible to drivers.
- Use the buddy system when attending parties.
- Know your limits. Alcohol poisoning can be deadly.
- Be aware of extra pedestrian traffic and children trick-or-treating."

- Choose face paint or make-up when possible and avoid masks that may obstruct your vision.
- Make sure your costume fits to prevent trips and falls.
- Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers, and choose light colored fabrics if possible.
- Plan to carry glow sticks or flashlights if you'll be trick-or-treating after dark."
