Male Attempts to Steal Marked Police Vehicle

On March 4, 2022 at approximately 3:23 a.m., officers from the Corvallis Police Department responded to the area adjacent to the Law Enforcement Center, located at 180 NW 5th Street, for a report of a male screaming in the bushes. Upon arrival, an officer observed a male standing within the area that police and sheriff’s vehicles are parked. The area is posted “No Trespassing” and “Authorized Personnel Only”.

The officer asked the male what he was doing and he stated “getting high”. The male’s erratic behavior was consistent with an individual under the influence of a CNS stimulant substance such as methamphetamine.

The male fled, ran into an alley, and scaled the side of a building, getting onto the roof. After running across the roof the male jumped off the roof and ran at a Corvallis Police vehicle that had just arrived on scene to assist.  The officer driving that vehicle exited and told the male to stop. The male did not stop and jumped into the running police vehicle through the open passenger front window. The officer pulled the male out of the vehicle and attempted to take him into custody. The male resisted arrest causing the officer to fall to the pavement which allowed the male to escape and re-entered the police vehicle, grabbing the steering wheel and attempting to put the vehicle into gear.

The officer deployed his Taser on the male before he could flee in the vehicle. Officers were able to gain control of the male and he was subsequently taken into custody. Two officers sustained injuries during the incident. The male, with no fixed address, was later identified as Cody Boudreaux (30). Boudreaux was transported to the Benton County Jail where he was booked on the following charges:

Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (ORS 164.135)

Escape in the Second Degree (ORS 162.155)

Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle (ORS 164.272)

Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (ORS 164.245)

Resisting Arrest (ORS 162.315)
