UPDATE: Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian in South Corvallis
On January 8th, 2020, at approximately 6:43PM emergency services from the Corvallis Police Department and the Corvallis Fire Department responded for a report of a female who had been struck by a southbound vehicle while using the crosswalk located in the 1000 block of SW 3rd St. The female was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center where she was admitted with critical injuries. The female was identified as 11-year-old Corvallis resident, Rhianna Daniel. During the late evening of January 9th, 2020, Rhianna Daniel died as a result of her injuries from the crash.
The driver of the vehicle, Peter Eschwey (45) of Corvallis, is cooperating with investigators. The investigation remains open and investigators are working closely with the Benton County District Attorney’s office to review all pertinent information regarding the crash.
