Henry Higgins is a renowned professor of elocution seeking the answer to the most burning of questions—why can't the English learn to speak? When a poor flower girl named Eliza Doolittle comes to him to enlist his services as a dialect coach to train her out of her thick Cockney accent, Higgins makes a bet with his new friend Colonel Pickering that if they can teach Eliza to speak with a "proper" accent, she'll be taken as a proper lady within six months. Eliza is fully capable of learning, but what's less clear is if she's capable of putting up with Professor Higgins and his terrible attitude.
