Trees and Utilities
Power Lines
Overhead utility lines require certain clearances to be maintained to ensure safe and consistent delivery of electricity and to prevent accidental fires and electrocution. This often necessitates the pruning of vegetation nearby. This makes it vital that only appropriate trees be planted in areas near power lines. Please visit Pacific Power's website for a list of utility friendly trees and take a look at the Corvallis approved planting list.

Water and Sewer
Trees should be planted at least 10' from public sewers, water lines and storm drains. The reasoning is two fold; first to reduce the chances of tree roots damaging pipes and second to reduce the chance of root damage when servicing or repairing these public utilities.
