Urban Forestry Staff
Parks & Recreation Urban Forester responsibilities include:
- New tree planting
- Tree health and risk assessment,
- Maintenance of the urban tree database
- Providing a link between City departments, contractors, developers, and citizens to ensure that activities that impact trees are dealt with consistently.
- Consulting on tree related concerns with development on private property
- Advising on tree related issues in Significant Vegetation areas & Riparian corridors
- Issuing permits
- Working to increase public awareness and stewardship of the city’s trees

Parks & Recreation Arborist responsibilities include:
- Leading the urban forestry field crew
- Managing Citywide Structural Pruning Program
- Ensuring staff compliance with safety standards
- Training new field staff
- Providing risk assessment and risk mitigation plans for trees in the public right of way and city parks
- New tree planting
