Avery Park and Natural Area is one of Corvallis' most popular parks. It features natural areas, sports fields, and five picnic shelters. Any of these shelters, the ThompsonFire SideTownsendMaple Grove and Lions picnic shelters may be reserved for private events and parties. There are several playground structures scattered throughout the park and a one-mile walking/jogging trail winds through the park and along the Marys River riparian area.

The Rose Garden area is a popular feature of Avery Park and Natural Area, with over 250 varieties of Roses, blooming from May to October (full bloom is in June). It makes a lovely backdrop for photographs. Please be sure to leave the garden just as you found it (per Corvallis Municipal Code Section 5.01.170, clipping roses, harvesting petals, and/or removing rose petals from the ground is prohibited).

The Avery House Nature Center is found in Avery Park, as is the Applegate Trail interpretive kiosk. Avery Park also includes a Rhododendron garden, a compost demonstration area, and an extensive horseshoe pit area that that hosts an annual regional horseshoe tournament.

The Corvallis Parks and Recreation's administrative office is also located in Avery Park and Natural Area. Families can sign up for classes and events, reserve a variety of rental facilities, and pick up brochures on city activities in our office, open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday 12 noon to 5 pm.
