Summer Camps Made Simple!

Your Guide to Planning an Amazing Summer with Corvallis Parks & Recreation Camps

Finding a fun and enriching summer experience for your child is easy with Corvallis Parks & Recreation! We offer a variety of exciting camps designed to keep kids active, engaged, and learning all summer long. This guide will help answer your questions about registration, schedules, payment options, and more—making it simple to plan a summer full of adventure.

Finding Camps

  • Keep an eye open for the summer schedule. Usually at the end of February and into March the activity guide for the upcoming summer will become available online and in the mail. You can always call to see when the camp schedules will be released.
  • Get an idea of what camps may be available. There are overnight, day camps, and specialty camps. Consider your child’s preferences,  interests and goals when reviewing options. Here is a quick overview of what camps are being offered each week. (specific details like location, dates, time, and price can be found in the Activity Guide)
  • Costs can add up! See if you are eligible for a scholarship or take advantage of our payment plans.

Getting Ready to Register

  • Note the day and time that registration opens. Put it on your calendar! Camps can fill on opening day.
  • Create an account before you sign up for a camp. BEFORE registration day, go to the Corvallis Parks & Recreation Registration Website or call Avery Admin Office at 541-766-6918 and ensure you know how to register and are ready with password or any other documentation you may need.
  • Review policies on refunds, cancellations, and other details. You'll want to know what you are signing up for! Everyone’s schedule can change. Some camps aren’t able to provide full refunds no matter how far in advance you cancel. Others offer more flexible.

Registration

  • Breathe. Don’t panic if you don’t get your first choice. Add your child to waitlists. Spaces will become available closer to summer.
  • Please don’t sign up if you’re not sure about your schedule. It prevents another family who may really need it from ensuring safe and fun summer plans.
  • Be patient as you register. It is a lot of work to plan so early and get registration sites ready to go. There will be whoops’ and errors. We are doing our best.
  • Be sure you include accurate contact information. A phone number and email address you will check. We will communicate with you before summer.
  • Does your child need accommodations? Help them have a successful and awesome week by communicating with us as soon as you register. We need two weeks before camp starts to ensure we can respond. You can also make a accommodation request here.

Tips for Success!

  • New to camps? A good entry point for a child who is new to camps is choosing half day camps.
  • Going to camp can feel scary! Find a friend or friends to attend with your child.
  • Keeping it all straight. Download this PDF planning sheet to help keep track of camps, dates, and locations.

Questions & Answers

When can I sign my child up for summer camps?
Registration will open at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 15. Camps have been filling quickly in past years so it’s good to register as soon as you can.

How do I register for P&R camps?
To register online, go to Corvallis Parks & Recreation Registration Website when registration opens on Saturday, March 15 at 9am.  Make sure you have set up an account for your child(ren) and remember your username and password. Do it before registration opens so you are ready.

To register in-person, go to either Corvallis Community Center at 2601 NW Tyler Ave. or Avery Admin office at 1310 SW Avery Park Dr. on Saturday, March 15 between 9am and 12pm. The earlier the better.

What information will I need to sign my child up?
You will need an account set up for them. Provide an email address you check as we’ll communicate before camp with more details.

You must be prepared to answer questions about dietary, medical and accommodation needs as well as who is authorized to pick them up. (Our registration system requires that you answer these questions for every camp. Thanks for your patience with this. We know it is not ideal.)

Should I call, come in person or sign up online?
It will be faster to sign up online as we have had a physical line out the door and we have a limited number of phones. The library has computers with internet access.

Can I use my child’s scholarship or sign up for a payment plan if I sign up online?
Yes! Make sure your scholarship application has been accepted and processed. Call us before registration opens to double check.

How does the payment plan work?
You pay 25% down when you register and the rest of the balance on April 15, May 15 and June 15.

My child is younger or older than the listed age range. Can I sign them up?
No. They must be no younger than the minimum age and no older than the maximum age at the program start date. (In the past, we have made exceptions but due to high demand for spaces, we are not able to this year.)

What if camps fill before I register my child?
Definitely add them to the waitlist. Often people’s schedules change and we have openings as summer approaches. You can always call us periodically to see where your child is on the waitlist.

Do you offer pre- or post-care?
We do for certain camps. Camp Corvallis, ages 6-8 (Sundance Explorers) and ages 9-12 (Summer Adventures) has pre- and post- care. This camps will take place at Katherine Jones Harrison Elementary. Sign up for your camp first and pre-and post-care after.

We do not offer pre- or post- care for:

  • Camp Corvallis Recreation Station, ages 4-7, is a half day camp designed for younger children newer to camps.
  • All other camps. (It can be tricky to provide staffing.)

What accommodations do you offer for children with different needs?
Indicate their needs in the questions white registering for camp. You can also submit an accommodation request here

DSPs/aids are welcome, we have fidgets, “zen dens,” noise-cancelling headphones and some other tools. in some cases, we are able to provide an inclusion aid (need two weeks notice and are not able to guarantee it). If for some reason we are not able to accommodate your child, we will offer a full refund.

What are your cancellation policies?
If you cancel over 5 business days from the start of the program, we will provide a refund less $10 per registration.

If fewer days from program start date than that, we will not provide a refund.

Please don’t sign up if you’re not sure about your schedule. It prevents another family who may really need it from ensuring safe and fun summer plans.
