City & County Seeking Volunteers for HOPE Advisory Committee

Like communities throughout Oregon and the United States, homelessness in Benton County has escalated in recent years and demands a comprehensive, coordinated response from the county, cities, and diverse community partners, leaders, and persons experiencing homelessness.

The vision of the Home, Opportunity, Planning & Equity (HOPE) Advisory Board is that everyone in Benton County should have the opportunity to live in decent, safe, and affordable housing.

University Area Housing

The City frequently receives questions about how enrollment at Oregon State University has expanded over the years and how many units and bedrooms are contained within some of the large apartment complexes near the university. The most recent statistics are available on this page and will be updated annually.

Public Safety Rescue Video Wins Savvy Award

The City of Corvallis has received the Savvy Award from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for a short video produced earlier this year about a dramatic rooftop rescue during a residential house fire in Corvallis. The award was announced at 3CMA’s annual conference in Denver on Sept. 5.

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The public is invited to dispose of old, unused, unwanted, or expired medications at a prescription drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 26 at Republic Services, 110 NE Walnut Blvd.

Safely disposing of prescription drugs at events such as these are a better alternative to flushing them down the toilet. The collection event will gather most prescription and over-the-counter medications, with no questions asked. Participants are advised to remove medications from their packaging to save space and to mark out names or any other identifiable information on labels.
