Ward 7 Special Election Set for November 5

The Corvallis City Council will fill a vacancy for the Ward 7 City Council seat with a special election on November 5. The current Councilor, Bill Glassmire, resigned this week to focus on recovering from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident. Glassmire has represented Ward 7 since 2015.

Due to the timing of the special election, the City of Corvallis will facilitate a slightly compressed timeline for candidates to gather signatures and qualify for the ballot.

November 2019 - Ward 7 City Councilor

Paul Shaffer won the Ward 7 Councilor election on November 5, 2019.  He fills the vacancy created when former Ward 7 Councilor Bill Glassmire resigned for health reasons.  The Council declared the vacancy on August 5, 2019. Paul will serve as the Ward 7 Councilor for the remainder of the term, which ends December 31, 2020.

Congratulations to Paul!

The City appreciates that Bradley Longman, Susan Walenza, Lucas MT Letelier, and Linda Gearhart participated as candidates.

Waste Prevention

Waste prevention is very different from recycling. Recycling redirects discarded material from the landfill, and prevents materials from entering the waste stream. Waste prevention is about changing habits in regards to what and how we use resources. It is the best practice to reduce waste, affecting both the upstream and downstream effects on our environment, by reducing resource extraction, manufacturing, transportation and end-of-life management.
