June 18, 2026 - City officials broke ground on a new, 34,567-square-foot Park Maintenance Facility in Avery Park. The purpose-built facility will house employees, equipment and supplies used to maintain the City's portfolio of parks and natural areas.

The Parks & Recreation Department manages 1,800 acres of parks and natural areas, including 24 miles of trails, 29 playgrounds and play areas and 28 sports fields. A total of 35 staff work at the Park Maintenance Facility.

What is the fee?

The fee is a monthly charge to City of Corvallis utility customers, that began February 1, 2011, to generate revenue to pay for repairs to public sidewalks. The money raised from this fee is dedicated to this purpose and cannot be used for any other purpose.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park Major Development Standards Adjustment (DSA-2025-10)

The community is invited to meet the candidates for Parks & Recreation Department Director. The meet and greet event will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 2 at C3's Chandler Ballroom, 2601 NW Tyler Ave.

The public will have an opportunity to chat with the finalists for the director position and share their feedback. Candidates will be invited to give short presentations at 5:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
