Administrative Policy #3.01 - Recruitment and Selection

Purpose

The City of Corvallis strives to be an employer of choice and recognizes the value of recruiting and retaining exceptional employees by fulfilling the mission of enhancing community livability.  The recruitment process is developed and utilized to attract individuals with appropriate qualifications to apply for jobs with the City of Corvallis.  Selection is based upon an applicant's knowledge, experience, skills, and ability determined through a competitive process.

Administrative Policy #3.05 - Spouse and Unmarried Domestic Partner Benefits

Purpose

The City of Corvallis values all employees and strives to treat all employees with equity.  This Policy ensures employees are treated the same in the application of City policies, compensation, or benefits due to sexual orientation or marital status.

Scope

This Policy applies to all City employees.

Administrative Policy #3.04 - Use of Casual, Temporary, or Regular Employees to Fill Vacancies in Regular Positions

Purpose

This Policy is to provide guidelines on the utilization of casual, temporary, or regular employees to fill short-term vacancies in regular, full-time-equivalent (FTE) positions in order to maintain effective and efficient operations.

Purpose

Training and probationary periods are an integral part of the employee selection process.  It provides managers the opportunity to evaluate employees' work performance, attendance, and working relationships as they relate to essential functions of the position.

Purpose

The City of Corvallis, "A Community that Honors Diversity," is committed to promoting a respectful work environment.

Administrative Policy #3.20 - Defined Contribution Plans Policy

Purpose

The City of Corvallis may offer a voluntary employee retirement savings benefit program, which includes defined contribution program types, such as a 457(b)[1] deferred compensation plan and/or 401(a)1 money purchase plan in order to provide employees with retirement savings alternatives.

Purpose

The City of Corvallis is committed to a work environment in which all employees are treated with dignity and respect.  Each employee, volunteer, and intern has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal employment opportunities and prohibits discriminatory practices, including harassment.  Therefore, the City of Corvallis expects that all relationships among employees at the City will be professional and free of discrimination or harassment of any kind.
