Birdie Neighbors Close 2020 with Light - The Birdie neighbors have a reputation for creativity. This year neighbors joined one another in a physically-distanced celebration on December 24 by lining the neighborhood streets with over 350 lighted candle luminaries. The streets were filled with chatter and the children were "beyond excited about it all".  See photo.

What is a Brownfield Assessment? What does it mean for Corvallis?  A brownfield site is one at which past uses or activities may have resulted in some sort of environmental contamination. The City of Corvallis has received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfield Assessment Grant to support a coalition-based program that will serve the cities of Corvallis, Albany, Monroe and Philomath, as well as Benton County. Brownfield grants use federal funding to conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and other cleanup/reuse preparation and planning activities at publicly and privately-owned sites. The grant helps facilitate infill development by reducing the costs of required environmental assessment and get sites closer to redevelopment. The grant can also help the community make better use of its existing land resources and encourage economic development in underutilized areas.
