Economic Development Office

Economic Development in Corvallis

In 2012, the City developed and adopted an economic development strategy that established the Economic Development Office (EDO). The EDO’s mission is to help businesses innovate, grow, and thrive in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Our service area includes all of Benton County including Corvallis, Philomath, Monroe, and Adair Village.

For more information, please see the Economic Development Strategic Work Plan 2024.

Enterprise Zone

The City of Corvallis has three Enterprise Zones: South Corvallis, Sunset Research Park, and the Hewlett-Packard campus.

An enterprise zone exempts only new property that a job-creating business might build or install in the enterprise zone at some future time. Also, an enterprise zone exemption is temporary, usually lasting only three years, after which the property induced by these incentives is available for assessment. An extension to four or five years in total is possible in some cases.

Volunteering

It’s hard to imagine our city without volunteers.

Whether they are re-shelving books at the Library, beautifying a park, providing policy advice to the City Council, or running programs at one of our community centers, volunteers help make Corvallis a special place to live.

The culture of volunteerism is particularly strong in Corvallis, and there is no question that it enhances our quality of life. Please browse the links below to learn more about specific volunteer opportunities in the City of Corvallis.

Resilience Planning & Emergency Preparedness

From wildfires to flooding to earthquakes to man-made hazards, disasters and emergencies are a fact of life in Oregon.

Here in Corvallis, the Corvallis Fire Department leads the City's emergency preparedness planning and management by supporting well-equipped public safety organizations and by working to build resilience in neighborhoods throughout the city. By providing tools and resources to the Corvallis community, we are working toward one goal—overall disaster preparedness.
