Outdoor Lap Pool

Size and capacity
The Outdoor Lap Pool, adjacent to the Leisure Pool, is 82 feet by 42 feet wide (six lap lanes, each 7 feet wide). It holds 120,000 gallons with an additional 5,000 gallons in the filter pit and pipes for a total of 125,000 gallons.

Depth and design
The Outdoor Lap Pool starts at 3.5 and gradually slopes down to 6 feet at the deep end. There is a wide access stair in the shallow end off the side of the 1st lane. The outdoor pools are Myrtha pools - the wall sections and floor liner were manufactured in Italy - they are the second and third of their kind west of the Mississippi. 

Features
The Outdoor Lap Pool has a water-basketball hoop, inner-tubes and floating mats. The deep end is deep enough for diving.

Water temperature
The Outdoor Lap Pool's temperature is kept at 82° F.

Handicap access
The Outdoor Lap Pool is handicap accessible from wheel chairs, standing or carry positions by means of the battery operated RehaMed PAL - Portable Aquatic Lift.

Filtration and circulation system 
The Outdoor Lap Pool is filtered with two high rate sand filters and is disinfected with a Calcium Hypochlorite tablet system. The circulations system is capable of a turnover rate of 3.5 hours, which is better than the state standard of 6 hours.

Sustainability
The Outdoor Lap Pool has a full set of pool covers which are put on each night to conserve heat and reduce water loss due to evaporation. The main circulation pump is equipped with a variable frequency drive which allows it to run at a slightly slower speed for a significant energy savings
