November 8, 2022 General Election Results Release Plan
November 7, 2022 - As Election Day approaches, Corvallis elections officials are reminding voters that ranked choice voting results may arrive a few weeks after November 8, 2022. Ballot tabulation is handled by the Benton County Elections Office. Unofficial election night results for all races will be available after 8 p.m. on Election Day. The detailed timeline for the election results is available on Benton County's website.
For ranked-choice voting races (Mayor and Ward 9 City Councilor), the first-choice votes will be reported with the unofficial election night results. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote following the post-Election Day ballot resolution period, the Benton County Elections Office will proceed with tallying second-choice votes for those races.
In this scenario, the community can expect to receive unofficial ranked choice voting totals from Benton County on December 1, 2022, which should give us a good idea of where the races for Mayor and Ward 9 Councilors are headed. Official results will be available a few days later on December 5.
"The municipal election results timeline may look a little different this year," said City Recorder Alex Downing. "We appreciate the community's patience as Benton County's Elections Office works through this process in an efficient and transparent manner."
