Library, Parks and Recreation Closures Extended to April 28

The City of Corvallis is extending most facility closures and event cancellations through April 28, to coincide with the latest guidance from the Governor’s Office.

These extensions are being undertaken in accordance with guidelines from public health authorities to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 respiratory illness.

Here are the latest closures and cancellations:

  • The Corvallis-Benton County Library will close its Main Library and branch libraries in Alsea, Monroe, and Philomath through April 28. All library programs and outreach events have been canceled as well, and Bookmobile stops are temporarily suspended during this time.

  • Osborn Aquatic Center and Majestic Theatre will be closed to the public through April 28. All recreation events, activities, classes, and rehearsals scheduled by Parks and Recreation have been cancelled through April 28. This includes programs at the Corvallis Community Center, which is closed for renovation but had been hosting programs at other locations. N0 sign-ups or reservations are being taken for future events at this time. Outside organizations that booked these facilities for rental events can cancel without penalty by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at 541-766-6918.

  • The three community rooms (Tunison Room, Walnut Room, and Corl House) are closed to the public through April 28.

The City has also closed most customer service counters and lobby areas at sites and facilities as well. These closure and cancellations are intended to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The City may announce additional steps in the coming days to bolster prevention efforts.

These closures and cancellations are intended to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Reducing public access promotes social distancing and allows City staff to continue working.
