Fire Station 1 Remodel
This project will remodel Fire Station 1 (also known as the Downtown Fire Station) to create more efficient, equitable, and safe work areas for Fire Department staff. This project is part of the long-range Citywide Facilities Strategy that was developed in 2021.
The Fire Station 1 remodel is contingent on the new Civic Campus & Administrative Building, which will create purpose-built meeting space for the City Council and other administrative functions. Currently, the City Council meets in a converted conference room on the upper level of Fire Station 1. Once the space in the fire station is vacated, a remodel project can begin that will increase equity in locker room facilities and create new meeting and training spaces for staff.
Status Updates
In 2023, the concept for the project is undergoing further refinement to identify any ‘fatal flaws’, to develop 10% design drawings, and to secure more accurate cost estimates from which funding strategies can be developed for Council discussion.
