Free Legal Services Available to Low-Income Businesses in Benton County
December 9, 2020 - The Corvallis-Benton County Economic Development Office, in partnership with the Lewis & Clark Small Business Legal Clinic (SBLC) will be offering free legal services to low-income business owners in Benton County. Funding for this program comes from the City of Corvallis and Benton County’s allotment of CARES Act funds dedicated to supporting local businesses by the Corvallis City Council and the Benton County Board of Commissioners.
Low-income business owners who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic can receive up to eight (8) hours of free legal services for legal issues associated with COVID-19. Services must be provided by December 30, 2020.
The SBLC has seen an increased demand for lease renegotiations but also works with businesses on other pandemic related issues, such as employment law, contract review, and regulatory compliance. SBLC services are available in multiple languages.
To apply for the program, business owners must fill out a brief intake form. Eligible businesses will be put in contact with the SBLC. The intake form is available online.
