September 9, 2022 - Christina Jancila has been appointed as the new Ward 2 Councilor on the Corvallis City Council. She will serve out the remainder of the current Council term, which concludes on December 31, 2022.

Jancila’s appointment at the September 6, 2022 Council meeting followed a newly adopted process whereby the City Council solicits candidates, conducts interviews, and votes to appoint a Councilor to fill the current vacancy. Previously, the vacancy would have been resolved through a special election.

In her interview with the other members of the Council just prior to the appointment vote, Jancila expressed an interest in engaging with constituents in Ward 2 and helping the Council finish out the current term.

“I bring enthusiasm to finish the work that the Council has already started, with continuity and to ensure a smooth transition,” she said during the interview.

Following the vote to appoint her to the vacant seat, Jancila was sworn in and took her place on the dais to participate in the remainder of the September 6 meeting.

A small business owner active in the downtown community, Jancila had previously served on the joint city-county Home, Opportunity, Planning, and Equity (H.O.P.E.) Advisory Board, which focuses on creating policy solutions to the issue of homelessness. She is also a candidate for Ward 2 in the upcoming November 8, 2022 general election.
