ICAN Aims to Put the Corvallis 2040 Vision Into Action
The Corvallis community vision will take a big step forward on October 16 with “Make It So” - the kick-off event for the Imagine Corvallis Action Network (ICAN). This new civic group includes individuals, groups, businesses and organizations working to put the Corvallis 2040 vision into action.
The event will offer information about how to get involved and the benefits of being part of the network. In addition, the event will showcase the work of a number of organizations and individuals that have already contributed their initiatives to the vision plan. The ICAN Board is also asking community members to lend their creative energy and help prioritize the Board’s future work on the community’s more challenging issues.
“Make It So” is also hosted by the Corvallis Climate Action Advisory Board (CAAB). The CAAB will have information about the Corvallis Climate Action Plan, their work to help the community meet our target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and how the Corvallis community can get involved and benefit from participating in this effort.
Everyone is invited to the kick-off celebration: Tuesday, October 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Corvallis High School Commons, 1400 NW Buchanan Ave. The evening will begin with an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by roundtable discussions from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Spanish and Arabic interpreters will be available.
Visitors can enjoy refreshments and live music, and childcare will be available.
“We’re putting the vision into action in a meaningful way,” said Mayor Biff Traber, who also serves as chair of the ICAN Board. “There’s a lot of energy and passion in the community, and it’s my hope that ICAN will be able to create connections for people who want to contribute to this effort.”
Space is limited. Attendees are encouraged to register online at www.corvallisoregon.gov/icankickoff.
