Corvallis Fire Department Responds to Explosion at HP Campus
The Corvallis Fire Department responded to an explosion at HP Inc. at 3:26 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. Officials confirmed that a hydrogen generator exploded in a laboratory in Building 2. Damage was limited to the room where the explosion took place. There was no ensuing fire, and firefighters did not deploy any firefighting apparatus. The explosion did not produce any release of materials, according to HP officials and the Corvallis Fire Department.
CFD paramedics transported two people to Good Samaritan Hospital with injuries. In addition to a battalion chief, the CFD response included two fire engines, two medic units and a fire prevention unit responded. CFD had secured the scene and departed by 5 p.m.
