Ward 7 Special Election Set for November 5

News - For Immediate Release

The Corvallis City Council will fill a vacancy for the Ward 7 City Council seat with a special election on November 5. The current Councilor, Bill Glassmire, resigned this week to focus on recovering from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident. Glassmire has represented Ward 7 since 2015.

Due to the timing of the special election, the City of Corvallis will facilitate a slightly compressed timeline for candidates to gather signatures and qualify for the ballot.

Election packets are now available to pick up at City Hall and online at www.corvallisoregon.gov/elections. Key dates in the process include:

  • 5 p.m. August 30 – The deadline to file a prospective petition with the City Recorder, which is the first step in the process to getting on the ballot. Potential candidates must complete a prospective petition before gathering signatures.
  • 5 p.m. September 3 – The deadline to turn in signatures to the City Recorder.
  • 12 noon September 5 – The deadline to file a completed petition with the City Recorder.

The winner of the November 5 special election will complete the current Council term, which ends on December 31, 2020.
