November 3, 2021 - Tracey Yee has been elected to represent Ward 8 in the Corvallis City Council. Yee will serve out the remainder of the current Council term that ends on December 31, 2022. The Ward 8 seat, representing neighborhoods in northwestern Corvallis, had previously been held by Ed Junkins, who resigned over the summer.

Yee, who recently retired from a position at Oregon State University, brings a background in social services, business operations, and human resources administration. A longtime community volunteer, she also served as the inaugural chair of the City’s Community Involvement and Diversity Advisory Board, which was created in 2017 to focus on issues related to civic participation and outreach to diverse community groups.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the Corvallis community as a City Councilor, and I will work hard to represent the best interests of my ward and the city as a whole," Yee said. "I am excited to join such a great group of fellow councilors and city staff who are already doing this work."

Yee has the distinction of being the first person who identifies as Asian-American to serve on the Corvallis City Council. In her free time, Yee volunteers with local animal welfare organizations, and supports youth music education and financial literacy programs. She also likes to travel when time allows, and has recently started growing tomatoes.
