Community Invited to Meet Their Paramedics at Public Forum
The community is invited to get to know their local paramedics and emergency medical technicians at a special event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 at the downtown Fire Station, 400 NW Harrison Blvd.
“On Call: Emergency Medical Services in Corvallis and Benton County” will present an overview of the Corvallis Fire Department’s emergency medical capabilities and will introduce some of the people who make this vital system work every day. The event is free and open to the public.
All career firefighters at the Corvallis Fire Department are required to be licensed EMS providers. Medical calls make up the vast majority of service calls at the Corvallis Fire Department, but the smooth functioning of this complex system, which covers more than 700 square miles in three counties, isn’t always readily apparent to community members.
This event will include hands-on equipment displays, as well as plenty of time for questions. Exhibits will include:
- Ambulance tours
- High-performance CPR demonstration
- “Stop the Bleed” awareness campaign
- Car seat safety information
- Fire-Med membership program overview
The event is part of national EMS Week. For more information on emergency medical services in Corvallis, go to https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/fire/page/emergency-medical-services.
