Traffic Engineering
Traffic Engineering is an important work group within the City’s Transportation Division. Currently the work group is staffed with a Transportation Engineering Supervisor and two Electronics Technicians. The group’s primary focus and responsibilities include:

- Maintains more than 15 flashing beacons for safer street crossings
- Maintains a limited number of City-owned street lights. The majority of street lights and utility poles in Corvallis are owned and maintained by private providers. Learn more about reporting issues with these lights directly to their owners here.
- Reviews proposed private development projects and City-managed infrastructure projects to provide input on transportation features
- Develops and manages traffic engineering standards such as for signs and markings
- Manages City’s bridge maintenance program including review of periodic inspection reports
- Coordinates with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) on state projects within city limits
- Reviews and responds to community service requests for traffic control changes such as new crosswalks, signs, etc. These issues are best reported via the City’s Report A Problem system.
